I am writing to ask advice about my puppy but first I would like to say that I thoroughly enjoyed Diana’s and Venus’ book!
My question is will my puppy be ok in the house while I’m away during the day? He is 7 months old and has had someone with him all day since he came to live with us over 3 months ago. I didn’t anticipated being away from him like this but due to unforeseen circumstances I will now be gone all day.
He is such a good little boy and I know the angels will be with him and look after him but just wanted to see if you had any input or advice.
Many thanks for your time.
Some dogs are fine being left on their own, others do not like it. It’s always a good idea to leave the radio or television on and leave them with an item of yours so it has your smell on it. It may be a good idea to see if a friend or neighbour can pop in to take him out in the middle of the day to break it up for him. I am sure he would still want be with you even if you have to go to work as opposed to going to a rescue centre so don’t beat yourself up about having a job!
Another thing to consider is getting a second dog so they can keep each other company? Make sure he gets lots of exercise before you go to work and when you get home. It may take a while for him to adjust but wait and see what happens
